Getting Ready For Spring

Messy Craft Space while waiting for new floors

Greeting everyone and thank you to all that have joined my blog.  It is so nice to read all the fun comments.  I just thought you would think this was funny, as you know I am having wood floors installed in two rooms and I had to move all my craft goodies into this room.  It is a mess, I can't find anything, and my card creation is certainly waning.  Can't wait for this project to be done.

Birthday Greetings

Good Morning everyone, I needed a fun birthday card and the Lady Dancing always makes a great design. I added the petite cake as a hat to her head,  some candles, a few bangles on her wrists, a fashionable purse and the birthday word.

Forest Evening

Greetings Everyone, I am blown away by getting all  the new followers a special thanks to all of you and those that are kind enough to leave a comment, it is always fun to read them. I am very honored to have so many of you reading from all over the world.

On a side note I am replacing the carpet in two rooms and having a wood floor installed.  Well the company quoted me a price to remove the carpet, pad and tack strip.  I thought oh heck I could do this myself.  WHAT WAS I THINKING.  It took me two days, I can hardly move from being so sore and stiff and I never realized how heavy carpet is . Never again, I have learned my lesson.

Today's card is made to look like a dusky evening in the forest.  I just made all the characters in black card stock and attached to a white card stock card.  I thought this would be a fun masculine card design.

Easter Purse Tutorial

Trim off sides evenly and round the bottom corners of purse

Greetings everyone, I just couldn't resist creating another fun Spring purse design.  I have used this same technique for Christmas, Valentines, Halloween and now Easter.

Take your 8 1/2" X 11" piece of card stock and score in half then fold over.  Using a cutting mat with printed rule take a rotary cutter and ruler to cut off one side of the card.  Use the cut piece as your template to trim off the other side so each side matches.  Now you almost  have a purse shape, with scissors trim off the bottom corners to give the purse rounded edges.   Emboss with Polka Dot folder.

The Purse handle is created using the two largest Classic Oval die together and attached to back of card. (I used two white and one pink oval together so it was very stiff.

Using the Spellbinders Heartfelt Creations die attach pink piece to front of card.

Die cut Memory Box Lavish Branch in green card stock trim in half and attach to both sides of card at bottom.  Add the Delicate Blossoms and Martha Stewart Double Monarch Butterfly  and you are done.

When complete the card will stand upright.

Building a Nest

Good morning everyone,

A big thank you to all my new and existing followers as well as everyone who stops by for a visit.  Another Spring filled card,  After embossing the paper I die cut a round circle for the birdhouse opening and used a slightly larger scalloped circle on top.  For the top of the house I used the Madison House die and some mounting tape and then attached it to the embossed pink background.    I attached the Plush Curtains behind the opening and added the nest, birds and rhinestones.  To the bottom of the card I added some grass behind the fence and tucked in some Fairy Flowers.

PS I recently purchased the Sizzix Susan's Garden Tool Kit after watching several videos on creating flowers.  I really love the kit, that is what I used to create the flowers on the top of the card.  I am only just getting starting on improving my skills, but this kit has lots of potential.

Singing in the Rain

Good Morning everyone, just wanted to say a special hi is all my followers and everyone who stops by and is nice enough to leave a comment.  I so enjoy reading them.

Well, we had a strong wind storm last night and lost power for eight hours, wow it seems strange not being able to turn on the lights.  Looks like I need to buy some candles just in case.

I am so looking forward to Spring so my post today started with the cute Chocolate Bunny die nestled in some grass holding the Umbrella doted with yellow stickles.  I assembled the Fairy Flower Drops, but really I am not sure they are glued correctly.  I tucked in some fun eggs, and added two Fairy Flower stems with more flowers.  I embossed the background and added the clouds.  The frame was made using the Spellbinders A2 Matting Basic A.

Valentine Candy Caterpillar (Tutorial)

Greetings everyone,

Well here in the Northwest we have certainly had some wild weather, over seven inches of snow on the ground and then if that was not bad enough mother nature decided why not add a layer of ice.

When I first saw the Poppy Stamp Cute Caterpillar die I thought wouldn't this be a fun project for kids.  All I did was paint a wooden clothes pin, filled a snack/sandwich bag with M & M peanuts and die cut and coated the caterpillar with my favorite Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.  To assemble after filling the bag I pinched it in the center with the clothes pin and attached the caterpillar.  You could make these for Easter and fill it with yellow and green candies.  Oh course any of the candies that tried to escape the bag were eaten.

PS If you want to create the elongated body cut a thin strip of paper and glue the caterpillar pieces to it.

Enjoy Diane
