Pink & Silver Glitter Trees

Hello, thank you for stopping by my blog.

I will probably really date myself here but when I was a kid I remember seeing artificial Christmas trees in silver and then you would decorate them with pink ornaments.  My trees are sort of the opposite of that idea.  I mixed the ultrafine transparent glitter with some silver glitter to coat each tree.

The other day I was wasting time and strolled through some antique shops in the area.  A lot of the items they call antiques are things I remember having as a kid.  I always thought to call something an antique it had to be at least 100 years old.   That must make me really old, ha ha.

Hornets Nest

This huge Hornet's nest is located in a tree out in front of our property. It is huge about the size of a basketball.   Now I do not know a lot about this stringing bug, I know they make the nest from paper substance derived from saliva and wood pulp.  From what I have read they are actually beneficial predators that help control a variety of insects that could otherwise become pests. It is hard to believe such a small insect could construct such a huge nest.

Off Broom Shopping

Hello and thank you for stopping by my blog.

For my card design I am sharing with you today, I meant to post earlier.  But we are having a record breaking heat wave.  If that was not bad enough there are fires in eastern Washington and on both side of the Washington/Oregon  Columbia River Gorge.  The ash is raining down hundreds of miles from the fires to where we live.

It is funny how sometimes when I am making a card right off the bat it is a disaster, nothing goes right and then other times the card just comes together quickly.

Memory Box - Swirled Lollipops, Grim Cauldron & Brand New Bicycle

Greetings and thank you for stopping bye.

Today's design was so simple, only two dies.  I water-colored a piece of paper for the back of the butterflies.  Then cut another piece of card stock and die cut the butterfly trio, next I attached that paper to the watercolor background.   I glued the butterflies back into the negative cut and used a scallop frame and finally a 5" x 5" card stock to mount the design on.

White Orchids

Greetings and thank you all for stopping by.  I don't make a lot of all white cards because I have a really hard time getting the picture to turn out.

The other night the neighborhood black bear decided to pay us a visit, I have a really nice Squirrel Buster feeder hanging right next to the house mounted under the roof.  Well for some reason I couldn't sleep and got up and I am standing in the kitchen looking out the window.  I am thinking to myself I don't see the bird feeder.  So I look out the dining window and there is a huge male black bear looking right at me.  I start banging on the window he just continues to look at me, so I start shouting and banging and finally he runs off.  Now I have to open the sliding door and walk out there to pick up the feeder which in on the ground and the lid is off.  I am thinking to myself the entire time I sure hope that bear is really gone.  That is twice now that he has knocked it to the ground so now I have to bring it into the house every night.

Really simple design, I added mounting tape under the three Orchids and behind the first frame to add a little dimension.  Then just used two of the Matting Basics behind the first one.

Materials:
Memory Box - Twisty Stalk
Mounting Tape
My Favorite Things - Lily

Let's Go Fly A Kite

Greetings everyone, I am so happy Spring is finally here.  Gosh I have not flown a kite in years but I can always remember having trouble getting the kite up in the air and staying there.

Recently I read an article about cleaning out the nests in your birdhouses, so I got up on a ladder to clean the three wooden birdhouses in the hopes birds will use them this year.  I opened the door on the first one and the nesting material is all the way up to the top with a little opening.  You really can not see into the nest, I start to reach up to grab the material and out jumps a Douglas Squirrel.  I almost fell off the ladder I was so surprised, I guess they are using the nest for their babies.  I just shut the door and moved on to the other two boxes.  The article never said other animals use birds nests.

Splish Splash

Greetings and thank you all that stop by my blog.  Our weather here in the Pacific Northwest is still soggy and we just can't seem to get rid of that atmospheric river weather front.  So I thought today's design was just perfect for our weather.

I coated all the rain slickers with the Glossy Accents for shine.  I added a cape, pockets and bow to the rain slickers.  Each umbrella is coated with Glossy Accents and then Art Glitter.  Raindrops are created using the Viva Glass Effect Gel.  The white clouds are also coated and dusted with Art Glitter and mounting tape for dimension.

Materials:
Art Glitter - Crystal 85  (for umbrellas)
