Christmas Beaded Ornament

Beaded Ornament Supplies
Original idea came from designs by  Susan Teare
Best of the Holidays to everyone.

This is actually a very relaxing way to past the time, I just pored all the beads into a bowl, then plugged in the glue gun to heat it up. Turned on my favorite television show  and started stringing the beads.  I started with a dressmaker pin, a gold seed bead, a large 8mm cream bead, then either a pink or cream 6 mm bead.  Place a small amount of glue on the end of the pin to hold them in place and stick into Styrofoam ball at the top.  Next I used a gold seed bead, then either a pink or cream 8mm bead and and 6 mm bead.  Don't use more than 3 beads on the dressmaker pin because they will not stay in the Styrofoam.

Just continue around the ball until completely filled in.  At the top I attached a chenille gold piece with my glue gun so I could hang it up when complete, you could use a nice ribbon also. Once done you can use a dressmaker pin and the smaller beads (five or so on the pin) and fill in any area that show the Styrofoam ball.

You could use any colors and sizes I am planning on trying different size balls and colors next.

Holiday Window

Thank you for visiting my blog and big thanks for those who take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower.  I always try to hop over to those that have blogs to return the favor.

Today's offering was created from left over die cut pieces I had but could not figure out what to do with them.  I sometimes start different designs and then find they just are not working and throw them out.  I thought is would be fun to try to use the Holly Holiday Frame which I am sure I have never used before.

Holiday Cheer

Last year I made this design in all white but I thought it would be fun to update it and add just a little color.  The Grand Oak Tree is die cut in glitter card stock even though the picture may not show it very well.  I added gold bells to the Deer's antlers, a heart shaped saddle and some leftover silver circles for jingle bells around its neck and saddle.

Sadly my picture taking is really terrible.

Thank you for visiting my blog and big thanks for those who take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower.  I always try to hop over to those that have blogs to return the favor.

Ice Skating

Happy Holidays everyone, thanks for stopping by.  I can always find so many ways to use the Lady Dancing die. My  Pinterest page.

I re-positioned her arm so she could hold the large snowflake and coated the blue oval with Sakura 3D lacquer to give the pond some shine.  I die cut her outfit twice once in red and then the trim in green glitter card stock.  For the trees I used Sakura 3D lacquer and then coated them with Clear Rock Candy. The skates blades at just some pieces left over, I have not found a small ice skating die as yet.

Down The Chimney

Hello to my newest followers and everyone that has time to stop for a visit. Thank you all for the lovely comments I really enjoy reading them, and visiting my Pinterest page.

I first made a template from the Puffy Cloud Border and then sponged a light blue ink for the background.  Basically when it comes to using inks that's the only skill I have.  For the Santa I die cut once in flesh card stock, then for the coat once in red card stock and then in glitter card stock for the coat trim.  I created the chimney using the square and then embossed it with a brick pattern, I added a glitter card stock icicle. I used a piece from the Santa hat for the collar on the deer, and deckle scissors for the snowdrift. The Santa sack was just a picture I found and cut out.

Ringing The Bells

Greeting everyone, thank you for stopping by.  Today's' design is certainly a glittery amount of goodness.  For the dress, hat, bells and snowdrift I used white, gold and green glitter card stock.

This design made me think of the elks we saw recently. We were over at the Oregon coast several weeks ago near Seaside, Oregon there was this huge herd of Roosevelt Elk just standing near the Highway 101.  Well, the males like to have moss, tree branches or whatever hanging from their antlers to make them look larger for the ladies.   You know the old saying the bigger the antlers, the bigger the .... you get the idea.

A Big Blue Frosty Greeting

Pouring rain here, at least it is warmer, lots of wind and power outages.  Gives me plenty of time to sit in my craft room and try to come up with designs.

I thought a slightly blue holiday design would be fun.  The background is embossed with a snowflake pattern and I added some snow to the branch.  The tree is dotted with Viva Decor pens, which I use on a lot of my cards,  I love the stuff.  I just have been going through some of my dies and embossing folders that don't get used much.

Have A Merry Christmas

Hello everyone, a big special thanks to my new followers.  Wow has it been cold here in the Northwest.  Right after October it was like a switch was thrown, it went from being nice to bitter cold.  The mornings have been 26 and the highs around 40.

Today's design was really quick and easy, I just die cut the oval frames, embossed the white card stock and added the cute Frosty, hillside, a few rhinestones and the words and I was done.

Up Up And Away

Greetings everyone, a big hello to my latest followers and thank you for stopping by my blog.  I still think Dee's Distinctively Small Winter Cottage die is one of the cutest house designs.  I used glitter card stock for the roof, windows, door and top of chimney.  Then I added Viva Decor dots on top of the windows for Christmas lights.  I also dotted the trees for a festive glow.  I tucked some presents, gingerbread men and a train in the snowbank which was created using my Fiskars deckle scissors.

Penguin Greeting

Its time again for the Penguins to come out and play.  I die cut them in black and then white card stock, to create the tummies I cut oval shapes.  I know you can not see it but I added a copper Viva Decor on the beaks.

I die cut the center circle using the Impression Obsession Circle Shaker Frame die and then added a deckle cut snow bank.  I used Glossy Accents and the Recollections Snow Glitter on the tree.  The raindrops are Viva Decor Glass Effects.  For the corners I used Cheery Lynn Designs Lace Corner Deco F die.

Waiting For My Folks

Welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy today's design.  I know when I had pets they were always waiting for me as soon as they heard the car pull up.

I used Viva Decor pens on the stair case for the berries, and then again on the tree to create a variety of holiday ornaments. I tucked the cat at the top of the staircase and the dog waiting by the door.

Oh Silent Night

It is that time again, I can't believe the holidays are coming up, where does the time go.  I used my cloud mask and sponged the background design then die cut the trees and used Glossy Effects to outline the edges and then sprinkled Recollections Snow glitter to give them a little dimension.  I added some Viva Decor glass effect gel to the windows of the house and also used different colors to add the decorations.  I used Glossy Effects to the truck even through you can't really tell.  I used my Fiskars Deckle scissors for the snow bank and added the carolers and a little Viva Decor for there hats and books.

Winters Delight

Greetings to everyone stopping by for a visit.  It is so hard to take a good picture of an all white design.   I just purchased the fun Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders die what a delightful concept.  I think they add a lovely effect to the rolling hills which I die cut using glitter card stock.  I used Glossy Accents on the trees and then added a sprinkling of Michael's brand Recollections Extra Fine Snow Glitter.   For the rain drops I used Glass Effects and it really makes fun dots.

Gathering Nuts

Here in the Northwest the weather has been windy with lots of rain.  There are so many leaves on the ground now I have given up raking them.  My hope is that we will have a huge wind storm and they will blow in someone else's yard.

Today's card is a fun Autumn design, I inked the clouds, really I am not very good.  I added some leaves and apples to the tree then tucked some pumpkins into the grass and attached the fence and squirrels.

Autumn Greetings

Hello everyone, today's design was quick and easy to create.  I die cut the Grand Madison Door using a cream colored card stock and then created a wreath using the Spellbinders circles ( 1⅞″ & 1⅜″) together.  I then attached punched oak leaves and a few pumpkins.  The door knob is Viva Decor orange pen. The corners were Impression Obsession Brick House roof eves. The sentiment was printed off my computer.

It is that time of the year when taking a picture of my cards never turns out well.

Midnight Ride

Greetings Everyone,  Hello to my newest followers and those that stop by for a visit.  Today's design started with making a mask using the Cloud Border and several shades of blue ink.  After stamping I added the Icicle Edge under the top of frame and attached the Santa.  Then I used the Viva glitter pen and edged the trees and after they dried I attached them with the truck as shown  I finally purchased some deckle scissors and they really make a fun snowbank.

Christmas Carolers

I really like the new Impression Obsession Carolers and they are just the perfect size for my type of cards.  The Papertrey Ink In The meadow die set is my go to to create curved hills.  I gave it a crimped design to look like snow.  I glued some left over leaves around a circle to create the wreath for the lamp post.  I used Sakara 3D Crystal Lacquer on the lamp post lights for a little shine. I dabbed some Viva Decor dots in red and gold on the tree.  I then attached the Carolers and framed the design using the Spellbinders Matting Basics which are my go to for framing because I can not cut a straight line.

Update on the glasses, got my exam at the Optometrist and of course they want to sell you on their frames, lens etc.  After I received a quote somewhere between $400 - $700 for a new pair I drove over to Costco.  The vision center their quoted me $249.00 for the exact same items.  Of course I opted for Costco. It really does pay to shop around.  PS I did get a price from Walmart it was about $350.00.

Stirring Up Treats

Hi there, I hope you’re well and having a productive week.  While cleaning my glasses the other day the end piece that connects to the temple snapped off.  Well of course they can’t be repaired so off to the Ophthalmologists for an exam and then some place to make a new pair.

Today's card is using the new Impression Obsession Witch which I just find so cute.  I tucked in the Memory Box Graveyard and Alder Tree, punched a bat and added the cat. Then framed the design using the Spellbinders matting Basics.  Since I can't cut a straight edge these matting dies are great.

On another note the deer in my yard are busy, I was standing on a ladder picking apples and tossing them onto the grass below, when a doe and her fawn come right over and start eating the apples right under the ladder.   They would not go away so I had to get the Mister to stand guard until I was done. Below is a picture of several deer just laying in my flower beds without a care in the world.

Squirrel Gathering

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all well.  The squirrels in my yard have been busy ever since the weather got cooler.  They spend a lot of time up in the oak tree gathering acorns and occasionally stealing my tomatoes.  So I thought I would create a design around how busy these squirrels have become.

Greetings Everyone,

A big hello to my new followers, I am always so excited when I see someone has joined my blog.

Thank you for stopping by, hope you are enjoying the final days of summer.  Our weather certainly has changed, this morning it was 49 degrees with fog.  I really am not good using inks but I brushed the truck a little with brown ink to give it an aged appearance.  I created a mask using the Delicate Cloud Border for the background.

Season's Greetings

Hello and welcome to my blog, a big thanks to my two new followers, gosh I can't believe I now have over 200 followers,  thank you for joining me.

Today's design is on the early side for the holidays but it has been raining here and I am trapped indoors.  To create the Santa you will need to cut the arms and legs off and re-glue them as shown.  I used the coat from the Santa's Laundry which works great, and the sack is actually one of the beards.  I stuffed the sack with candy canes, gum drops and tiny stocking.  Under the tree I added two mice and the tiny train set. I borrowed the witch's shoes because I could not find a good masculine shoe die. You know trying to glue tiny die cut pieces is really hard, miniatures are fun but also a pain.

Oh you know how I love the Lady Dancing die so I thought it would be fun to have her dressed in a pumpkin outfit concocting a delicious brew of Halloween goodies.   The table is created using the Taylored Expressions The Witch Is In legs and a Martha Stewart Dripping Goo for the table skirt and a few bats. Flying Witch & Midnight Ride

Flying Witch

Midnight Ride

Oh you know I really like the Memory Box Dancing Lady die (retired) there are just so many fun ways to create cards using her.  I used a Spellbinders Large Classic Circle for the moons and I found I had an old Martha Stewart bat wings, Jack O Lantern and bat punch.

We recently discovered some rodent had taken up resident in our attic, after putting rat/mouse traps and getting nothing I asked my better half to get up in the attic and take a look.  Well, over in the corner where the house eves are located was a nest with five baby Douglas Squirrels (picture below).  Now they are actually a native squirrel in Washington so I had him place the babies in a box and took them outside and placed them under a tree.  Sure enough almost immediately here comes the mom and she moved them all to a better location.  We found where the squirrel had gotten up on the roof and into the attic so now that is all sealed off.

Greetings everyone,

Today's card was very easy to create I was looking through some of my old forgotten Martha Stewart punches and found I had a vampire.  I die cut three Memory Box Birch trees and punched out the vampire, then added some bats and the words and I was done.

You  know Michael's Craft store every year used to carry a nice line of the new Martha Stewart punches for every season but either she does not produce them anymore or something.

Dangling Spider

Greetings everyone, today's card is a whimsical design, I don't know why but I just thought the eyes were too funny on the spider.

A big hello to my newest follower and thanks to everyone that stops by for a visit.

Super easy to make just die cut the Memory Box Creepy Spider in the center of your white card stock and use the negative part.  Then attach a piece of black card stock behind the spider and add two googly eyes, the Poppy Stamps Web Border and the words.

Halloween Wreath

Greetings Fellow Crafters

A big Hello to my newest follower.  Thanks to everyone that stopped by for the recent blog hop and left comments.  I hope you are all well and having a wonderful summer.

Poppy Stamps Spider Web Border,  Small Blooming Poinsettias, Curious Cats, Halloween Roof & Porch
Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles LG 2¾″ & 2⅜″
Stickles Orange Glitter Glue (flower centers)

My design today started with die cutting the Spider Web Border die with black card stock.  I then attached it to the top of the card.

To create the wreath I took a 2¾″ & 2⅜″ circle die and  I just placed the smaller one inside the larger and die cut them together using white card stock.  Now you have a nice ring to create the wreath.  Die cut 5 Small Blooming Poinsettias with orange card stock and 7 Curious Cats with black card stock.  I just glued the two larger flower pieces together and the two smaller pieces together.  Save two of the larger flowers to attach to the roof piece.

Now start attaching them around the ring starting with a cat then a flower until you have the ring covered.  I also tucked a few leaves behind the smaller flowers.

I am using the Roof die as a hanger for the completed wreath.  Die cut the Halloween Roof & Porch with black card stock and attach the two orange poinsettias at the bottom end of the eves.   Die cut the orange letters (SCARY) from the Scary Background die and glue as shown.  Now attach the wreath to the roof piece I just glued it where two cats sort of lined up with the orange flowers and then attach to your card.

Halloween BOO

Wow it has been warm here, finally we are having a cool down.  Really I should not complain since most of the time it is cloudy and raining.

A big hello to my latest follower and of course everyone who stops by for a visit.

I am not sure but I am guessing this design would fall under the clean and simple area.  Very quick to produce just die cut everything and glue letters to each ghost, add the hat and pumpkin and layer the card with the orange, black and white framing.

Greetings everyone, hope you are all fine and in good health.  I know what is it with the Halloween cards.  I just keep finding fun things to design.  I die cut twice the skirt and then attached them together and added so stars.  I thought it would be fun to have a dangling spider and of course a witches means of transportation. Very easy and quick to design.

Haunted Fireplace

Greetings Everyone,

I am totally blaming the new dies from Poppy Stamps for my obsession with the Halloween theme.

To create this design I die cut the fireplace and then stamped a bronze ink color directly over the metal die which really raised the brick pattern.  I then added the rest of my Halloween characters to create the scene. On the yellow fire pieces I edged them with a red ink.

Spider Web Delight

Greetings fellow crafter's, a big thanks to my new followers.  Also, hello to everyone who stops by for a visit and those that have time to leave comments.

Today's card would of been a lot easier if I would have had a web die but I don't so I used the Memory Box Creepy Web ( which is a corner die) and die cut it 4 times then glued the pieces together.  The Spellbinders Nestabilities Small Classic Inverted Scalloped Circles was used for the center circle and I just trimmed the web once I attached it behind the circle.  I then added the Dangling Spider and the Happy Halloween words to complete the design.

Royal Chariot

Greetings Everyone,

Hello to my new followers and everyone that stops by.  Today's card design is for those that might have a little princess they know and need to create a card.

To create the carriage I started with die cutting some blue card stock and the Spellbinders Standard Circle Large (3¾″).  For the door opening I die the Classic Oval (3 x 2¼″).  To create the yellow oval frame I used the (3 x 2¼″) and placed the ( 2¼ x 1¾″) inside of it and you get a nice oval outline.  I just added a half trimmed oval white card stock (3 x 2¼″) for the door and trimmed part of the Impression Obsession Brick House roof trim for the yellow door trim. I added a lamp which I cut off from the Lamp Post die and part of a lamp to the top of carriage. I added some fun pink Plush Curtains inside the carriage. For the wheels I cut apart the Brand New Bicycle and added the wheels to the front, and layered two Vintage Bicycle wheels in the back.

On the corners I added the Cheery Lynn Designs Lace Corner Deco F dies in blue.  The horse I punched a pink Martha Stewart heart and folded it in half for the saddle. I die cut a second tail and used scissors to create a movement effect. Then I added a few pink rhinestones. Do I smell Cake

Greetings Everyone, today's card could be used as a birthday design or just an all occasion card.  For those of us that have had dogs you know as soon as they smell food they hurry over to investigate.  I embossed the background and then added the window, shutters and doily curtains.  I created the cake and attached it to the cake stand then attached it and the dog behind the window.  To complete the design I added the flower box, grass and little daisies.

Garden Butterflies

Greetings Everyone, Gosh I like the Big Splash Border but I believe it has been discontinued. It really adds a fun dimensional to cards, I die cut the Poppy three times to make it more sturdy, then added some Sakura 3D crystal lacquer and Art Glitter in yellow to the flower tops.  I wove the Holly Vine inside the flowers and finished with the two butterflies.

Materials:Memory Box - Big Splash Border, Holly Vine & Prim Poppy
Poppy Stamps - Murana Butterfly, Samirah Butterfly, Cheviot Butterfly & Delaney Butterfly
Pink Rhinestones
Art Glitter Yellow

Simple Wedding Card & Elephant Ear Cookie Recipe

Hello everyone, just wanted to say thank you to all my new followers.  For those that might need a fast wedding card this design was quick and easy.  I die cut the center heart, attached the butterfly, popped on the corner pieces and added mounting tape to the back of the first layer.

For those that enjoying baking I have enclosed my version of the the Elephant Ear Cookie, one of my favorites, I have shortened the steps but you can also go to Martha Stewart's website and view the original. These are so good and go fast.

Martha Stewart Elephant Ear Cookies (really it is more like a delicious pastry)

Elephant Ear Cookies

  • 1 cup walnut halves (original recipe called for pecans)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar, plus more for surface
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons light-brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • All-purpose flour, for rolling
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry (from one 17.3-ounce package), thawed (I use Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry Sheets)
  • 1 large egg, beaten well
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toast walnuts on a baking sheet until fragrant and lightly toasted, 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  1. Grind walnuts, sugars, cinnamon, and salt in a food processor until very finely chopped (mixture should resemble very coarse sand).
  2.  Place puff pastry sheets side by side on floured parchment; press together at seam to form a 9 1/2-by-18-inch rectangle. Roll out to an 11-by-20-inch rectangle using a rolling pin. Brush generously with beaten egg, and evenly sprinkle with walnut mixture, patting it into dough. Starting with a short side, use one hand to roll up as tightly as possible, holding unrolled portion firmly with other palm. Brush off excess flour with a dry pastry brush as you are rolling, and press sides back into shape (they tend to splay). Roll tightly in parchment.  Chill in freezer for 20 minutes.
  3. Cut crosswise into 1-inch slices. Generously sprinkle a work surface with granulated sugar, and coat both cut sides of dough slices in sugar. Press dough slices to flatten slightly. Roll out into 6- to 7-inch rounds on sugared surface, sprinkling more sugar on top as needed.  Line baking sheets with parchment paper and bake in batches until golden brown, 17 to 18 minutes, rotating halfway through. Let cool on baking sheets.
If you get time to make this let me know what you think.
